Introduction
Administrative Officer II is administrative work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans or policies.

POSITION DUTIES
- Supervises the licensing unit and exercises independent judgment and analysis to interpret complex administrative plans and policies for the Commission. Manages the daily activities of the Commission in executing its mandate to examine, qualify, license, and regulate licensees. Exercises independent judgment and responsibility for the overall Commission's program, including independent analysis of operations, procedures, organizations, and systems, and recommends improvements.
- Manages application and licensing processes. Researches Commission records and produces license certifications for issuance to other states. Possesses knowledge of the Commission's laws and regulations and pertinent changes to perform Commission and administrative tasks.
- Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of management tools such as procedural/training manuals. Approves or disapprove the original applications of applicants, using independent judgment based on experience and knowledge of current laws and regulations. Approves name changes, credit reports, and other changes in license status. Approves or disapproves the renewal applications of licensees who have had disciplinary actions in another State or who have had criminal convictions. Approves or disapprove the applications of reciprocal applicants. The independent decisions are made using the knowledge of reciprocal laws and regulations from both Maryland and the applicant's original State of licensure.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Supervisory experience of 3 or more employees
Bachelors degree in related field
Working knowledge of the Google platform
Experience in licensing administration.
