Main Purpose of Job

This position will personally provide and direct the provision of requisite services to and on behalf of individuals with intellectual disabilities entrusted into Potomac Center’s care. This position is obligated to discharge professional responsibilities with minimal supervision in accordance with license, professional and ethical standards, expertise and regulatory and ancillary requirements.

Pursuant thereto, this position ensures associate’s work product and services are delivered in a timely and quality manner and requisite respective inputs are tendered to facilitate completion of ITMs, POCs, and ancillary reports in a timely and efficacious manner. This position exercises his individual discretion and professional judgment to fulfill assigned responsibilities in a competent, efficacious and professional manner. This position functions as an advocate on behalf of individuals and actively supports an integrated and holistic approach to the totality of an individual's needs & their pursuit of outcomes. 

Finally, this position must at all times ensure duties and responsibilities are faithfully discharged according to dictates of ICF/MR; Annotated Code of Maryland; Code of Maryland Regulations; Departments of Budget & Management and Health and Mental Hygiene; Memorandum of Understanding; Office of Health Care Quality; CMS; Title XIX; Center Policies and Procedures; and professional standards commensurate with license.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.

Experience: Four years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university. 

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Supervisory experience within the IDD population
  • Experience with case management of patients in a residential setting

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Employees in this classification must have a license as a Master Social Worker (approved for independent practice), Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker-Clinical issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.

2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
