Introduction
The Maryland Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) is
located in Hunt Valley, MD. We are a State agency charged with conducting fair
and timely hearings in 500 different types of cases for over 30 State agencies.
This hearing function is intended to provide an unbiased
opportunity for citizens affected by the administrative actions of Maryland
State agencies, such as the Motor Vehicle Administration, Child Services,
Health Department, Personnel, and Labor. One component of the OAH is a large
Clerk's Office, where Docket Clerks handle the many clerical and administrative
functions associated with supporting the judges engaged in the hearing
schedule. We are seeking interested applicants to fill one vacant position. The
starting salary is $40,680/year with an increase after the successful
completion of one year of service. (State salary guidelines do apply for
current state employees.)

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to receive, schedule
and close cases as well as other clerical duties within the Clerk's Office for
the Office of Administrative Hearings.
POSITION DUTIES
The primary responsibilities may include receiving and
entering cases into the case management system, confirming hearing dates,
scheduling cases in a timely manner, processing mail and closing cases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or
possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: None.
Notes: Candidates may substitute additional experience in
scheduling and docketing hearings on a year-for-year basis for up to three
years of the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the
following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on
your application regarding your qualifications.
For best consideration, applicants should have experience
in performing clerical duties related to legal or regulatory matters, such as
in a law firm or legal office, a court-affiliated office environment, or a
government unit applying a set of rules and regulations. Applicants should also
have experience providing excellent customer service to individuals over the
phone and through emails or other correspondence using appropriate grammar and
punctuation.
