Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Routinely monitors and responds to the msp.ncic@maryland.gov email for routine and urgent requests;
- Train and assist NCIC Auditors to answer emails and to conduct Originating Agency Identifier (ORI) validations;
- Analyzes and manages the assignment of ORIs and Device IDs for the METERS system and addition to both the Datamaxx database and the CPI switch;
- Ensure messages contain all valid destination codes for METERS;
- Assist technical programmer analysts in the design, development and testing of application system corrections or enhancements by analyzing modifications recommended, determining system impact and estimating effort and resources required to perform modifications;
- Beta testing newly advanced technologies that are setting the highest standard in county/state;
- Site Security Coordinator for MDSP for CJIS user login ID and password application and also serves as a source in the determination of the security needs of the agency;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Two years of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or statewide systems housed on mainframe computers or large client server platforms.

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of an Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management, Information Technology or other related field with specific coursework in the structure and use of automated information systems and one year of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or statewide systems housed on mainframe or large client server platforms for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources Management, Information Technology or other related field with specific coursework in the structure and use of automated information systems and one year and six months of experience providing problem analysis and ongoing user support, coordinating system development and implementation, and training users on the functionality of applications for agency or statewide systems housed on mainframe or large client server platforms for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Current or prior experience as a Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC)

This is an internal recruitment limited to current
permanent, contractual and temporary Maryland State Police (MSP) employees.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
In accordance with Section 2-204(b)(6) of the Public Safety Article, candidates for position in this classification may be subject to an initial drug screening and a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.
SELECTION PROCESS
Only candidates who meet
the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification.
Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information
on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List
categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain
eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination.
The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees. The list will
be valid for one year.

The examination will
consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the
requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications
supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all
