Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Finance and Administrative Services. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

Main Purpose of Job

To manage the State of Maryland Corporate Purchasing Card Program for DNR and to assist FAS Accounts Payable and General Accounting as assigned.

POSITION DUTIES

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Finance and Administrative Services, 580 Taylor Avenue, B-4, Annapolis, MD 21401, is currently accepting applications for a Fiscal Accounts Technician II. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the State of Maryland Corporate Purchasing Card Program for DNR to include ensuring the CPCs are used by authorized agency personnel only to purchase items which fall within the range of small procurements as outlined in COMAR. The incumbent acts as a liaison between DNR and the general accounting division. This position works closely with auditors to provide information for auditing of the program and trains unit personnel standards of the CPC program.

Responsibilities also include various procurement and general accounting functions as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One year experience using the Statewide accounting system applications. 
  • Customer service experience. 
  • Accounts payable experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
