Fiscal Accounts Technician Supervisor

POSITION DUTIES

To manage and improve the invoice payment process and supervise Fiscal Accounts Clerks, Fiscal Accounts Lead and Fiscal Accounts Technicians.

  • Review and approve batches of invoices that have been processed by the Accounts Payable clerks and technicians. 
  • Verify payment information on the invoices including vendor identification numbers, service dates, amounts and address match the information on the 32screen in R*STARS. 
  • Verify that the manually calculated batch total matches the total on the 32 screen.
  • Within two days of receipt, transmits files to the Comptroller’s Office for payment by the State Treasurer.
  • Ensures that staff is providing excellent customer service and is responsive to internal and external requests.
  • Escalates any issues with internal and external customers to the Accounting Supervisor II that cannot be resolved by the Fiscal Accounts Technician Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. 

Experience: 
Three years of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.

Notes: 
1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education. 
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Tchnicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Six (6) months of FMIS and ADPIC experience

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Google Documents/Sheets 
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience with accounts payable invoice processing

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must consent to State and FBI (CJIS) background check as a routine procedure for all MSDE employees.
