This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Finance and Administrative Services. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Main Purpose of Job
This position is the program administrator of the DNR-FAS Accounts Payable Section. It serves a member of FAS’s senior Management Team. The position is responsible for all aspects of the planning, management, operations and execution of the Department of Natural Resources’ accounts payable function. It is critical to the mission of the agency by ensuring vendors are paid in a timely manner consistent with state law, regulation and policy. The position is the lead contact with the Comptroller’s General Accounting Office for all payment requests made by the Department, and the ultimate person to approve and submit requests for payments. This position oversees the processing and is the final approval on vendor payments for the agency.
POSITION DUTIES
The Department of Natural Resources, Finance and Administrative Services, 580 Taylor Avenue, B-4, Annapolis, MD 21401, is currently accepting applications for a Fiscal Accounts Technician Supervisor. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate, supervise and evaluate the work of Fiscal Account Technicians and related support staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments.
Notes:
1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Six months of experience working in Accounts Payable.
- Six months of experience working with Microsoft Suite applications and Adobe Acrobat.
- One year of experience using Statewide accounting system applications: FMIS, R*STARS, and ADPICS.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
