Introduction

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Finance and Administrative Services. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year.

Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional position serving as a Fiscal Administrator in Budget Operations, responsible for: (1) coordinating the development, execution and analysis of the Department of Natural Resources’ operating budget, (2) coordinating the development, execution and analysis of the Department’s Capital Budget Section; (3) other fiscal and budget administrative duties and (4) overseeing the budget team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: At least five years of experience in governmental accounting with progressively increasing responsibilities resulting in acquired knowledge in the areas of governmental financial and budgetary accounting. A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required. Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheets is also necessary.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and supervisory experience in the general accounting operations of a state organization. 
  • Strong training and communication skills to guide fiscal staff throughout DNR. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of State of Maryland FMIS applications and systems.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
