Introduction
THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CURRENT TEMPORARY, CONTRACTUAL AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES OF COMPTROLLER OF MARYLAND.
This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting certified eligible list may be used to staff several current and future vacancies for this position/function only.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.
Experience: Four years of experience performing financial and compliance audits of a State agency, grantee, business or other entity.
NOTES:
- Applicants who had met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor or a Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
- Applicants may substitute one year of professional accounting experience for one year of auditing experience only.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Internal Review classifications or Auditing specialty codes in the Financial or Auditing fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with the TaxMaster and Revenue Premier Enterprise software applications.
- Experience performing alcohol and tobacco tax audits for a state department of revenue.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Experience performing financial compliance audits of business entities.
- Familiarity with Maryland tax laws, rules, and regulations.
- Familiarity with generally accepted auditing standards.
- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.
- Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
