Main Purpose of Job

To serve meals, prepare snacks, assist with cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen and dining areas, and on occasion transport meals and serve food at satellite sites for the food production operation. This relates to the agency's mission by serving safe, nutritious meals that promote optimal health for DJS youth.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Prepare and set up food service lines and steam tables.  Serve food.  Serve measured portions in accordance with DJS menus.  Take food temperature to comply with HACCP–based standard operating procedures.
  • Clean and sanitize utensils, dishes, pots, pans, appliances, and work areas in the kitchen and cafeteria areas.  Completes checklists and temperature monitors to comply with HACCP-based standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare vegetables, fruits, beverages, sandwiches, salads, and simple desserts as needed for food production.
  • Receive and store food in an orderly manner to comply with COMAR and HACCP–based standard operating procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  None.

Experience: None.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
  • Experience in preparing and serving large quantities of food.
  • Experience with serving food at luncheons, conferences, and other special events.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
