POSITION DUTIES

Under the general auspices and cover of license of Ph.D. (consultant) Psychologist, this position provides essential services to and on behalf of individuals with intellectual disabilities, including individuals with co-occurring developmental and mental health diagnoses. Finally, this position must ensure requisite psychological services, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, are fully integrated with overall programmatic/medical goals for designated individuals to maximize holistic approach consistent with each individual’s needs and identified habilitative goals. Working with the profoundly and severely developmentally disabled and dual-diagnosed individuals, this position presents certain unique challenges and difficulties in and of itself. Traditional or usual approaches may not work as many, if not most, individuals lack the requisite capacity to co-direct or actively participate in the regimen. Accordingly, this position must necessarily modify the assessment devices in order to accurately measure individuals' psychological status and needs. This is especially true when working with those who are not only intellectually disabled but also have one or more concomitant disabilities such as: physical (blindness, deafness, motoric difficulties, muscular disorders, etc.); mental (neurological deficits, psychosis, etc.); and/or maladaptive behavioral disorders.
