Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and coordinate the services and activities of the Psychology Department consistent with the mission of Spring Grove Hospital Center in providing quality care to our patients. Job duties include:  Planning, organizing, and directing the Psychology Department program to meet patient needs; Directing and coordinating the Performance Improvement Program for Psychology; Providing supervision and consultation; and, supervising overall Psychology training efforts in various areas including the following staff and student training. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Doctorate in Psychology from an accredited college or university acceptable to the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists and five (5) years of experience in forensic psychology, including performing pretrial evaluations on court involved psychiatric patients and 5 years of experience leading or supervising doctoral or other psychology staff.

The incumbent must obtain a current Maryland license to practice as a Psychologist from the Board prior to appointment. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Candidates must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a Maryland license may also apply pending receipt of the required license.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.

For education obtained outside the U.S., any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing an evaluation for equivalency by a foreign credential evaluation service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview).

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
