Introduction
The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the legal business of the State, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials and institutions of State Government. As Maryland's 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown, leads the Office with a key focus on equity, justice, and fairness.

Main Purpose of Job
The OAG is seeking applicants for the position of Administrative Officer II to provide administrative and paralegal support to the Assistant Attorneys General who represent the Maryland Department of Commerce.
POSITION DUTIES
Job responsibilities include administrative support for the unit; drafting correspondence; creating and maintaining binders of financial transactions and other office files; filings in courts and administrative tribunals; organizing records for discovery and assisting in all aspects of litigation preparation, research, and support; reviewing and researching property records (including leases, contracts, title reports, deeds, deeds of trust, plats, right of way plats, land records, SDAT records, and other public records) to determine ownership, liens, and other interests, and identifies issues that must be resolved in connection with acquisition, conveyance, or encumbrance of property. Position duties include assistance with all unit programs, including financial assistance and tax incentive programs, which may include preparing the first draft of certain contracts, modifications, grant agreements, loan agreements, forbearance agreements, and related documents; revising and formatting State regulations for adoption; and performing additional administrative duties as needed.
The applicant selected for this position will be expected to help evaluate efficiency of operations and develop, revise, and recommend new policies and workflow procedures, including recommending new technology or filing systems where appropriate, and assisting in other daily operations of the unit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in real estate title, paralegal, administrative, or professional work.
Applicants shall be proficient with Microsoft Office (or comparable programs), possess strong organizational and writing skills, and be detail oriented.
Notes:
1. Thirty (30) credit hours or a certificate in paralegal studies from an accredited college or university or law school may be substituted for education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess:
1. Familiarity with land records, Westlaw and internet research.
2. Experience with document review and production software and database applications.
3. Experience drafting and formatting State regulations.
