Introduction

The Maryland State Archives in Annapolis is dedicated to preserving Maryland's records and history. the Archives' Summer Internship Program provides opportunities for students interested in computer science, information technology, and information management to gain valuable experience in the field through hands-on participation in actual development projects that will be used in the day-to-day fulfillment of the Archives' core functions of preservation and access.

Main Purpose of Job

Interns will engage in a variety of activities related to the designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining applications and websites. Application development at the Archives is centered around object oriented, database driven desktop and web applications.

POSITION DUTIES

Interns are expected to work 35 hours per week, starting on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, through Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

 ● Be a current high school student and able to get a State Work Permit 
 ● A current college student, undergraduate or graduate level 
 ● Recent college graduate within the last year AND 
 ● Be a current resident of the state of Maryland or an enrolled student in a Maryland school

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Good computer skills and experience working with databases and with the Google Suite, Microsoft Suite of Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and social media

● Experience working with archival collections 
 
● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds 

● Ability to climb ladders
