Introduction

This position is responsible for reviewing and discussing accounts with customers who visit the CCU Satellite Office. Implementing payment agreements and setting up account payment agreements in the FICO Debt Manager system, as well as requiring payment in full when necessary. Interacting with MVA Insurance Compliance Division staff, Legal Measures staff, and the Office of the Attorney General in order to resolve accounts when necessary.

This is a special appointment position that serves at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

POSITION DUTIES

To collect all delinquent accounts referred from various MD state government agencies in the quickest, efficient, and most cost-effective manner while employing the highest professional standards.

  • Responsible for reviewing and discussing accounts with customers who visit the Glen Burnie CCU Satellite Office. Implementing payment plans and setting up account payment plans in Debt Manager, as well as requiring payment in full when necessary. Interacting with MVA Insurance Compliance Division staff, Legal Measures staff, and the Office of the Attorney General in order to resolve accounts when necessary. Responsible for adding correct addresses, phone numbers, employment information, and SSN to an account. Notating clear and precise notes on the Debt Manager system. Payment plans must be prepared accurately and must be entered into Debt Manager in a timely manner in accordance with established policies and procedures. 
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate timesheets in Workday and updating timesheets daily. Responsible for adhering to all leave and call-in procedures. Maintaining a regular and reliable rate of attendance. Performs all other duties as assigned, including special projects. 
  • Providing excellent customer service skills and communicating correct account information to customers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: None 
Notes
1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education. 
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. One year experience in Customer Service.
2. One year experience in Debt Collection.
3. Bi-lingual individuals are encouraged to apply.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are required to undergo a criminal background check as part of the selection process due to the financial nature of the job.
