This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job

This position has total administrative responsibility for a social services unit responsible for providing services to vulnerable citizens. 

POSITION DUTIES

  • Review and analyze operational procedures to interface with other operations in an effort to increase efficiency of current procedures, to include the implementation of new procedures as necessary. 
  • Oversee the analysis and interpretation of the unit operations. 
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding program decisions. 
  • Provide training, guidance and direction to the unit in order to ensure adherence to agency, state, and federal requirements and mandates. 
  • Oversee the implementation of corrective action plans necessary as a result of agency, legislative, or federal audit recommendations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. 

Experience: 

Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work, two years of experience overseeing and managing the financial resources of a program and an additional two years of supervisory experience. 

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-to-year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures, and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher-ranking commissioned officer on a year-to-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • One year of experience with Family Investment Programs
  • One year of experience with OHEP Programs and DHS Data Management system
  • One year of experience using spreadsheet software such as Excel or Google Sheets.
  • One year of experience developing and implementing training

  • Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date).
  • Annual Leave - ten (10) days of accumulated annual leave per year.
  • Sick Leave - fifteen (15) days of accumulated sick leave per year.  
  • Parental Leave - up to sixty (60) days of paid parental leave upon the birth or adoption of a child.
  • Holidays - State employees also celebrate at least twelve (12) holidays per year.  
  • Pension - State employees earn credit towards a retirement pension.
