Introduction

As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for coordinating activities and service implementation of Grants and Special Projects in support of the overall vision, mission, and priorities of the Division of Rehabilitation Services. This position will work closely with local education agencies (LEAs), various State agencies, disability advocacy organizations, and DORS Program Managers and Office Directors to ensure grants and special projects are managed and services are implemented in accordance with the funding source requirements.

Position Duties Include:

  • Managing the daily operations and activities of assigned grants for multiple federal grant programs
  • Providing guidance, monitoring, and support to grant partners to ensure that assigned grant programs are administered according to program requirements
  • Coordinating the monitoring stages of the grant programs and fund cycles to ensure that grant programs and funds are used for authorized purposes in compliance with state and federal statutes, Code of Maryland Regulations, and terms and conditions
  • Facilitating grant planning, informational, and technical assistance sessions with DORS staff, grant partners, LEAs, and stakeholders

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Rehabilitation Counseling or a related field

Experience: Four years of experience in vocational rehabilitation or closely related field providing direct client services.

Note:
Candidates may substitute a master's degree from an accredited college or university for two years of the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional experience in grants management
  • Professional experience in program management, evaluation, and monitoring
  • Professional experience leading vocational rehabilitation, human services, or education staff

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must consent to State Police Investigation (fingerprinting) as a routine procedure for all employees with this Agency.
