Main Purpose of Job
As the pioneering leader of Child and Family Well-being at SSA, you will embody the
visionary and strategic architect of SSA’s integrated approach to ensuring the safety,
health, and well-being of children and families. Your primary objective will be to
guide SSA’s well-being framework, tailored for children of all ages, to promote
healthy development and successful outcomes. You will collaborate closely with the
Prevention, Safety, and Out of Home teams to design and implement robust well-
being strategies for children and youth to ensure appropriate placements,
educational success, appropriate behavioral health interventions, and support their
transition to adulthood. This leader will also manage placement provider
relationships across the state.
POSITION DUTIES
- Develops and implements SSA’s well-being framework to align with developmental milestones and holistic well-being outcomes for children and families.
- Collaborates with program area leadership and staff to operationalize strategies promoting well-being across the child welfare continuum, ensuring alignment with values, principles, and best practices.
- Monitors federal requirements (specific to well-being), ensure state and local compliance, and prepare required reports.
- Collaborates with internal and external partners to conceptualize how SSA will define, operationalize, and measure child and family well-being.
- Provides leadership in using this information to promote system-level changes necessary to achieve well-being outcomes.
- Ensures SSA’s policies align with well-being goals and facilitate successful service implementation at LDSSs.
- Interprets child welfare legislation and regulations, providing feedback on proposed state legislation.
- Monitors and evaluates well-being processes and initiatives, making data-driven adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Maintains expertise in child development and well-being models, integrating relevant frameworks into practice.
- Provides training, support, and technical assistance to SSA and LDSS staff on well-being initiatives, principles, and best practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
Experience: 5 years of management experience in child welfare or human services, of which 2 years in clinical case planning and possession of a clinical licensure.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have demonstrated many or preferably all of the following:
- A Doctorate degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a Human Services-related field of study.
- Two years of supervisory experience and leadership of a team through large-scale transition.
- Two years of project management experience, managing complex initiatives from design to implementation.
