Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland Office of Inspector General for Health is an independent state agency responsible for identifying Fraud, Waste, and Abuse of Maryland Department of Health (MDH) funds. This position shall maintain confidentiality and impartiality when conducting their duties. The Chief of Staff works closely with the Inspector General (IG) in the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Inspector General (OIGH) and on special projects as necessary. The incumbent is a trusted advisor and resource that serves as the critical link in communication between the IG and OIGH staff and stakeholders. The incumbent is responsible for key programs including communications, legislative affairs, organizational development, internal controls, budget, human resources, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) programs. This assists the OIGH’s mission to protect the integrity of the MDH and promote standards that benefit the citizens of Maryland and beneficiaries of its programs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and six years of experience in administrative staff or professional work to include three years of experience in professional health services work to include evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care policies, legislation or programs.  Two years of this experience must have involved the supervision of other employees.

A master's degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for 2 years of the required general experience.

SELECTION PROCESS
