Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position
will be to provide overall managerial oversight of the Capital Planning and
Design Unit in order to ensure efficient management, administration, control,
and technical expertise of capital projects and operational responsibilities.
This position serves as the technical professional expert to Executive staff as
it relates to capital projects, design, construction and leasing. The Director
serves as the manager of the Department’s Facilities Master Plan and Capital
Improvement Program.
This position is eligible to work a hybrid telework schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, Master’s
degree is preferred.
Experience: Ten (10) years of professional experience in construction management, project management,
and/or architectural design.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred
candidate for this position may possess any of the following qualifications:
- Experience leading large-scale project management of facility design or construction
- Experience in youth facilities management; therapeutic youth designed facilities
- Experience in preparing and presenting reports, analyses, and/or recommendations to senior management and stakeholders
- Progressive management experience
- Ability to interpret lease agreements and manage multi-year leases
- Ability to multitask and work on multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience collaborating with various units or departments including internal or external stakeholders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
