POSITION DUTIES

The Comptroller of Maryland’s Information Technology Strategy and Support organization seeks a senior project manager to lead our project management office.  Under the leadership of Comptroller Brooke Lierman, major IT transformations are underway to include a new tax system, a new payroll system and a new statewide financial management system. At the same time normal IT operational improvements are also underway to include a new public facing website and new tools and technologies to improve how Comptroller staff interact with customers and perform daily tasks. A seasoned leader is needed to run our IT Project Management Office to effectively mature how projects are managed by the team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience

Experience: At least 10 years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute current PMP certification for 2 years of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute additional years of project management experience for the Bachelor's degree requirement.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with MS Project, Wrike, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or similar tools
  • Experience negotiating vendor contracts and drafting budget proposals
  • Experience successfully leading projects on-schedule and within budget
  • Experience leading motivating, and managing project teams including internal and external resources, while holding them accountable for performance
  • Experience gaining buy-in from executives, stakeholders, sponsors and project team members
