Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Lead the development and implementation of policy initiatives and strategic priorities in alignment with the agency and divisions goals and values.
- Conduct research, analysis, and data-driven assessments to inform policy recommendations and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with internal and external departments, agencies, and elected officials to identify emerging issues, trends, and opportunities for policy changes.
- Develop policy proposals, directives, action plans, and implementation strategies.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at the local, state, and federal levels, analyzing their potential impact on program operations and priorities.
- Oversee the preparation of briefing materials, presentations, and reports for agency and division leadership, elected officials, and internal and external stakeholders on policy issues, options, and recommendations.
- Provide policy analysis and guidance to program leadership, and department heads to assist in making informed decisions and prepare strategic plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
- Extensive experience in policy development, analysis, and implementation, preferably in a governmental or public sector setting.
- Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to convert complex information and data into actionable policy recommendations;
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters or other advanced degree preferred in public policy science or public administration
- Strong writing and research skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask, make informed decisions, use independent judgment, establish priorities and provide clarity to senior leaders.
- Some travel is required.
- Has political expertise and strategic thinking, with the ability to navigate complex political environments
- Familiarity with policy analysis tools, methodologies, and best practices.
