Introduction

The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State's legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. As Maryland's 47th Attorney General, Anthony G. Brown leads the Office with a critical focus on equity, justice, and fairness.

Main Purpose of Job

The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for an Outreach and Education Coordinator in its Medicaid Fraud and Vulnerable Victims Unit (MFVVU). The Outreach Coordinator will oversee planning, coordinating, and attending community-based events in which MFVVU participates and will provide training on fraud prevention, financial exploitation, and the abuse or neglect of vulnerable adults in a variety of venues around the state. This position will also develop and maintain accuracy of all external facing publications (brochures, newsletters, press releases, social media, and other media) for MFVVU. Travel throughout Maryland is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   An Associate's  degree from an accredited university.
Experience: Five years of educational/training experience.  Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required. 

Note: The candidate must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess: 


1. Experience in public relations and public speaking. 
2. Knowledge of long-term care programs or healthcare fraud investigations. 
3. Working knowledge of computer publishing software (Publisher, Adobe, etc.)
4. Experience in developing written educational materials.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list for at least one year.  Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
