Main Purpose of Job
To manage special
projects for the Correctional Training Unit (CTU) to include serving as the
primary for the distribution, tracking and monitoring of the on-line
pre-service training. Serve as the coordinator for International correctional
training and a liaison to the U.S. Department of State for these programs.
Conduct training and presentations for academies, in-service, field training,
as well as others agencies on current correctional topics. Review requests for,
and communicates with agencies on, comparative compliance waivers for newly
hired correctional officers. Work on special training projects as assigned by
the Director of Correctional Training.
POSITION DUTIES
1. Serves as
the primary for the distribution, tracking, notifying, enrolling and monitoring
of the on-line pre-service training for all newly hired staff across the
Department.
2. Serves as
an instructor in the CTU (academy, in-service, etc.) and on special training
projects when needed as instructed by the Director or when requested by another
office within MPCTC.
3. Serves as
the coordinator for International correctional training and a liaison to the
U.S. Department of State.
4. Reviews requests for, and communicates with
agencies on, comparative compliance waivers for newly hired correctional
officers Makes a recommendation to the Director.
5. Coordinates
and conducts specialized training for the Department, including Fire Safety,
PREA, Corr. Comm, etc.
6. Perform
other duties as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree
from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three years of
experience working at the administrator, senior management or command staff
level for a correctional organization.
Notes:
Candidates may substitute
additional professional experience as defined above on a year-for-year basis
for the required education, for up to four years.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience conducting entry
level correctional academy and/or correctional in-service training classes.
2. Experience in efficient
planning, organizing, implementing and control of the logistics required for
training in the Public Safety sector.
