Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for the development and delivery of curriculum to include training objectives, assessment techniques, and practical explications to support program administed by the Leadership Development Institute.

POSITION DUTIES

This is a professional training administrator position within the Police and Correctional Training Commissions' Leadership Development Institute (LDI). The LDI is responsible for providing supervisor through executive level training to State and local law enforcement and correctional professionals in critical job functions, including compliance with laws and regulations governing the delivery of public service in Maryland. The selected candidate will identify, design, develop, organize, implement, coordinate, instruct, manage, and evaluate the delivery of various training programs and projects based on content, value and other related factors.

  • Assign, schedule and coordinate adjunct faculty participation in Leadership Development Institute Programs.  Liaise with course instructors and speakers to ensure program instruction is consistent with established course goals and learning objectives. Negotiate fees for instructor's services.
  • Design assessment instruments for evaluating courses and instructors.  Lead the implementation of a systematic evaluation of LDI programs and instructors.
  • Assist with grant writing and reporting activities that support programs of the Leadership Development Institute.
  • Instruct in specific programs as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year-for-year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Two years of professional work experience coordinating, developing, implementing, and teaching adult learners.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Experience in planning, teaching, organizing, and implementing Leadership, Human Resources, Professional Development and/or Public Safety training.

2.  Experience in logistics required for program/curriculum development and delivery.
