Introduction
Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Provide programmatic and administrative direction for MPT K-12 educational services supporting content development and media education.
- Collaborate with the MPT education team to produce engaging K-12 digital learning resources and instructional content for students and teachers.
- Guide the development of K-12 activities for students and teachers with an emphasis on media literacy, focused on leveraging resources to support educator training and building instructional skills to support youth voice and media making programs.
- Collaborate with the MPT education team to enhance online, virtual and face-to-face professional development offerings with an emphasis on supporting Maryland educators in their use of instructional technology and digital learning resources offered through MPT’s education service Thinkport and national public media provider PBS Learning Media.

Support metadata development for education content management systems.
- Foster strategic partnerships with education focused organizations, nonprofit programs and schools, to collaborate on programs serving K-12 educators, students and parents.
- Assist in the identification of grant opportunities and development of proposals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university or a teaching certification from an accredited program.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in an education related field.
Notes:
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in an education related field from an accredited college or university for two years of the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field of study and/or Teaching Certification from an accredited program
- Background in teaching and/or curriculum design with practical experience using a variety of instructional technologies
- Knowledge of digital and media literacy fundamentals
- Knowledge of best practices in the development and/or use of educational media including alignment to learning standards
- Comfortable working collaboratively in virtual environments
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Passionate about supporting teachers and students
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written and presentation

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
