This is a Full-Time
Contractual position (1984 Hours).

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Records Retention:
- Reviews and develops record retention
schedules
- Conducts records
retention, destruction and management training
- Maintains Agency
Forms Control per policy
Public Information Act
Processing:
- Assists with the
administration of the centralized intake unit for the processing of
PIA requests
- Assists in the
planning and implementation of revised practices
- Provides
assistance and direction to higher-level administrators related to the
preparation of their
responses
to PIA requests and understanding the overall responsibilities of a custodian
of record.
- Conducts video
and audio editing for records released pursuant to PIA requests.
Other duties as assigned by
Command/Supervisory personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Professional experience composing
business letters.
2. Professional Experience
responding/processing public record requests for local, state or
federal
agencies.
3. Professional experience with
record retention and/or destruction/management at the local,
state or federal levels of government.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
In accordance with Section 2-204(b)(6) of the Public
Safety Article, Candidates for position in this classification will be subject
to an initial drug screening and a complete criminal background investigation
before permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds
for rejection of the candidate.
SELECTION PROCESS
Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will
be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you
provide complete and accurate information on your application. Successful
candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED,
BETTER QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at
least one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the
hiring manager to select employees. The list will be valid for one year.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
The examination will consist of a rating of your
education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.
You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may
be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is
related to this position.
BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work
for an agency covered under the State Employees and Retiree Health and Welfare
Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or
more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for
subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a
contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums
for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents
you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of
the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage,
accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be
responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
