POSITION DUTIES

Would you like to work for the State of Maryland? This position is steps away from the Governor's Mansion.  Located within walking distance of many affordable dining choices.  An ideal place to work and enjoy year round. 

The main purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the Taxpayer Services Division Employee Education Unit in training and technical direction to personnel. The incumbent will assist with development and delivery of tax training curriculum for employees. This position is responsible for performing research, recommend changes to division web content, and related personnel work as directed within the Employee Education Unit. The incumbent will accept and respond to calls and emails from taxpayers, agency employees, managers, supervisors, and directors. This position may also provide assistance to other units within the Taxpayer Services Division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://naces.org/members/

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Writing, reviewing, and updating manuals
  • Organizational skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience with personal computers
  • Experience with software applications (MS Office Suite)
  • Previous presentation experience

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

  • Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 
  • Work may involve exposure to uncomfortable and unpleasant surrounding.
  • Work may involve physical demands such as lifting 25-35  pounds. 
  • Evening and weekend work may be required especially during peak times of the year.
  • Employees are unable to prepare tax returns outside of the requirements of the job or work for private accounting services.
  • Leave maybe limited during certain times of the year due to high volume events, projects, or special assignments.
  • Telework not available/limited during probation period.
