LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Assesses compliance and investigates complaints using interviewing and observational skills.
- Maintains knowledge of the licensing agency regulations.
- Discusses and determines appropriate action to resolve violations and compliance issues.
- Inspects barbershops and salons to assess compliance, verifies operational permits, investigates consumer complaints, and conducts various required inspections within the state of Maryland.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience conducting investigations of alleged non-compliance with state laws and regulations, which govern the licensing and practices of business occupations and professions.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Compliance Inspection and Support classifications or Compliance Inspection and Support specialty codes in the Inspection, Investigation, Enforcement, and Compliance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Experience with a thorough understanding of Maryland
cosmetology laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
Experience and knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation
standards for salons, barbershops, and
other licensed establishments.
Experience with inspection procedures and regulatory enforcement practices.
