Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide primary support to MADAP (Maryland AIDS Drug Assistance Program). This position will be responsible for ensuring accessibility to the program by processing MADAP and MADAP Plus applications and performing insurance verification in compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as in accordance with MADAP's policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional general clerical experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:

1. Experience reviewing Medical Care Program data to interpret, clarify or apply Ryan White Program regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines.

2. Experience/knowledge of basic math to calculate income to ensure program requirements are met.

3. Experience screening and responding to visitors and telephone inquiries.

4. Experience maintaining routine and confidential files, logs and program data.

5. Experience in understanding, accessing and operating various computer information systems.

6. Experience operating office equipment and developing routine office procedures.

7. Experience organizing and completing work according to assigned schedules.

8. Experience communicating effectively with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.

9. Experience reviewing and interpreting health insurance policies and premium invoices.
