The Comptroller’s General Accounting Division located in beautiful Annapolis is looking to fill the role of an Accounting Manager (Systems Control Accountant Manager) in our financial operations accounting team. Responsibilities will include assisting all state agencies with closing the budgetary books, assisting with accounting review of applicable and treatment of GASB pronouncements, budget loading into State ERP(FMIS) and balancing the State-wide budget to the Fiscal Digest, processing budget amendments as authorized, developing and maintaining financial accounting operational standards for all State agencies, troubleshooting and resolving technical accounting matters for all state agencies throughout the fiscal year, review and approval of journal entries and accounting reconciliations prepared by staff, engaging directly with internal and external auditors, assisting with the preparation of the Annual Report, overseeing the preparation of the bi-annual Fees and Users report and overseeing special projects as needed. Responsibilities will also include leading and developing your accounting team through technical training and coaching.  Come join us!

Please note: You will be unable to prepare tax returns for compensation due to potential conflicts of interest with your duties as a Comptroller of Maryland employee. Also, vacation usage is limited during closeout (July - December)..

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  A bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar discipline from an accredited college or a bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar discipline from an accredited college or university.

Experience:  Four years of government experience ensuring appropriate and consistent interpretation of and compliance with statutory and generally accepted accounting principles in a fiscal control agency or three years of experience in a leadership position or managing staff.

** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalence evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.
