The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) provides support to state agencies, the Executive Office of the Governor, the Governor’s coordinating offices, and a variety of independent agencies within the Executive Branch.

Striving to provide the highest level of customer service to its internal and external customers, DoIT supports Maryland’s agencies and commissions through its leadership and strategic direction for Information Technology and Telecommunications, establishing a long range, target technology architecture, encouraging cross agency collaboration and advocating best practices for operations and project management.

The Director of Cyber Platforms will be responsible for the successful operation, maintenance, and strategic development of critical cyber security services provided to state agencies (upwards of 80 unique agencies). This position will play a pivotal role in enhancing the state's overall cyber security posture by ensuring the effective delivery of these services, including services such as CAASM, MDR, SIEM, Vulnerability Scanning, Attack Surface Management, Email Security, and Password Management.

This position aligns directly with the overarching mission of the Department of Information Technology (DoIT) and the Office of Security Management (OSM) to safeguard the state's information assets and infrastructure. By overseeing the delivery of essential cyber security services, the Director of Cyber Platforms will contribute to the state's ability to respond effectively to cyber threats, maintain business continuity, and protect sensitive information.

• Service Strategy - Responsible for developing and executing the strategic direction for the cyber security services. This includes developing a roadmap for each service, forecasting service usage, identifying opportunities for improvement, collaborating with the cyber engineering team, and aligning service strategy with the overall cyber security strategy of the state. 
• Team Leadership - Leading and managing the team responsible for delivering the cyber security services. This includes hiring, training, and developing team members, assigning tasks, monitoring team performance, fostering a positive team culture, and ensuring team adherence to security policies and procedures. 
• Service Operations - Day-to-day management and upkeep of the centralized cyber security services. This includes patching and updating service components, monitoring service performance and addressing issues, troubleshooting and resolving service outages, ensuring service availability and reliability, and developing and maintaining service documentation. 
• Service Delivery - A focus on the delivery of cyber security services to state agencies. This includes onboarding new agencies, collaborating with agency stakeholders to understand their needs, directing the configuration and deployment of services, providing training and support, and managing service access and permissions. 
• Stakeholder Relations - Communicating with various stakeholders, including agency personnel, executive leadership, and other IT teams. This includes providing regular updates, responding to inquiries, presenting service information, collaborating with other teams, gathering stakeholder requirements, and building strong relationships with agency stakeholders.

Education: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering or related field.

Experience: Four years experience operating and managing technology platforms, two of the four years needs to be in a supervisory or manager role, supervising other IT professionals.

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Advanced platform certifications, such as CCNP and/or Microsoft Expert
2. Experience w/cyber platforms such as Crowdstrike, Axonius, Splunk
