Main Purpose of Job

This position will function as the Supervisor of the Office of Pharmacy Services (OPS) Pharmacists Professional Services (PPS) Division, and primary pharmacist professional services policy expert for OPS. This position includes oversight of PPS, which requires the clinical pharmacist’s professional service expertise in collaborative agreements and medication/disease state management, as well as their expertise to initiate, plan, design, and execute strategic projects utilizing drug utilization trends, cost containment measures, budget forecasting, and national and regional policies, to develop PPS policies by the Program. This position will also manage the operation of the PPS unit including clinical criteria, communications/transmittal/advisories, regulations, and State Plan Amendments. This position will also coordinate and monitor PPS services offered by the Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) with services offered by Medicaid Fee-for-Service (FFS) including questions and answers from MCOs, as well as coordination with the Board of Pharmacy. The requirement for this position to hold a PharmD is based on the clinical expertise and knowledge necessary to engage with the Pharmacy services provider community, as well as the utilization of pharmaceutical terminology and methodology to ensure state and federal rules and regulations compliance and adherence. This position is eligible for hybrid telework which is subject to approval from the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The qualified candidate must possess:

A valid MD Pharmacist license from the MD Board of Pharmacy

Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD.) from an accredited college or university

Five (5) years of professional experience in clinical pharmacy, including a minimum of three (3) years of experience supervising other professional staff, and one (1) of the following: overseeing and coordinating the general operation and management of a unit, data analytics, applying rules and regulations, OR exercising responsibility for the development of policies and procedures. 

Two (2) years of experience developing collaborative agreements or two (2) years of experience in medication/disease state management, as well as experience developing drug and professional services coverage policies using drug utilization, cost budget limitations, and national/regional policies related to pharmacy services.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess experience:
  • In communication and outreach to providers and patients related to collaborative agreements and/or medication/disease state management
  • In the coordination of care with different stakeholders
