Introduction
Maryland Public Television (MPT) is a statewide, public-supported TV network and Public Broadcasting Service member offering entertaining, educational, and inspiring content delivered by traditional broadcasting and streaming on TVs, computers, and mobile devices. A state agency, it operates under the auspices of the Maryland Public Broadcasting Commission. MPT creates and distributes local, regional, and national content and is a frequent winner of regional Emmy® awards. MPT’s commitment to educators, parents, caregivers, and learners of all ages is delivered through instructional events and Thinkport.org.

Main Purpose of Job
This position will oversee
and provide technical management of the staff and the systems that deliver MPT
local and national context to our audience. This position will also be a part
of MPT’s senior management team. Responsibilities include: Over-the air
broadcasting (transmitters and distribution) and Information Technology
including streaming, Master Control, maintaining production equipment, as well
as oversee Artificial Intelligence (AI) policies, procedures and best uses.
This position includes developing and overseeing budgets, ensuring FCC
compliance, negotiating tower tenant leases and network security.
POSITION DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technical
area or related media business.
Experience: Eight (8)
years of experience as a broadcasting or IT systems engineer as related to
broadcast and/or media distribution. Three (3) years of senior management level
experience, including supervisory experience in Broadcasting, IT and/or media production/distribution.
Notes:
Candidates may substitute the possession of a
Master's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or
university for two years of the required experience.

applicants who possess the following preferred

Background developing
and implementing strategic plans for network infrastructure and operations, in
alignment with the overall business goals and objectives for a television
station

Background managing
vendor relationships and negotiating contracts for network equipment and
services
·
Knowledge of FCC
regulations and communication laws
·
Demonstrates working
knowledge of IP, satellite and terrestrial transmission systems
·
Comfortable working
collaboratively in virtual environments
·
Excellent
organizational and project management skills
