This is responsible work in the Fleet Management
or in Street Maintenance. Employees in
this position are responsible for managing, receiving, inspecting, storing,
issuing, locating and ordering of a large and varied stock of
automotive/vehicle parts. Work involves
monitoring and ensuring accuracy in the maintenance of continual inventory, and
other records necessary to effectively manage supply levels; establish and
revise stock levels based on consumption and other factors. Negotiates purchase of low-cost items by
telephone. Plans for adequate warehouse
space utilization and insures maximum use of existing facilities within storage
criteria of the commodity being stored.
High school diploma or GED; and one (1) year experience in the receiving,
inspecting, storing, issuing and maintenance of stock records in an automotive/equipment
parts environment.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
May be required to
work days or nights and some holidays.
Must have or obtain a valid Alabama driver’s license as needed to
operate City vehicles.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must
be physically able to lift and move objects up to 50lbs. unassisted. Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, and climb
as needed to locate part numbers on vehicles or equipment. Must be physically able to operate vehicles
and material handling equipment as needed to pick up, move, load and unload
parts, equipment and supplies.
