The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to plan, coordinate and direct
the activities of the Sanitation Department.
Major duties include developing, implementing, and enforcing policies
and procedures for the overall administration and generally overseeing all
department activities, such as collection and transportation of solid waste and
recyclables, street sweeping, and litter control. The Director reports to the Mayor or to his
Executive Assistant.
Must have a Bachelor’s
degree in public administration, Business Administration, or a closely related
field and five (5) years of highly
responsible management experience directing the activities of multiple work
crews involved in the collection and transportation of solid waste.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training, and
experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to
perform the job will be considered.
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays and
willing to be on call to respond to emergency incidents as needed.
