Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.
**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and MCCP Board Rules & Regulations**
The fundamental reason this classification
exists is to provide technical and logistical support and to perform grants
administration duties for the Emergency Management Department. Furthermore, as a member of the Emergency
Management Agency, the EMA Logistics Officer is required to respond to and
provide support during severe weather, emergencies, and disasters. Primary work
responsibilities may include: coordinating the day-to-day operations of the
emergency management preparedness and safety programs; assisting in the
coordination, staffing, and hands-on operations of EMA-related community
events; providing training for community and civic groups; identifying,
managing, reviewing and applying for available grant sources; assisting in the
preparation and administration of multi-million dollar emergency management
grants; providing assistance for community entities in their efforts to secure
federal assistance; performing miscellaneous technical and administrative
duties; and serving as quaternary contact to activate the Emergency Operations
Center. The EMA Logistics Officer
reports to the Director of Emergency Management Agency.
Associate’s
degree in Business Management, Emergency Management, Political Science, Public
Administration, or closely related field
and one (1) year of experience providing technical and administrative support
in emergency management, emergency response, hazardous material disaster reporting,
or related environment.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience
that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job
will be considered.
Must obtain both Community Emergency Response
Team (CERT) and CERT Train-the-Trainer certifications within one year of
employment. Must live within a response
time of sixty (60) minutes to the Emergency Management Operations Center.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Work requires some extended work hours, nights, weekends, and
holidays as well as afterhours call-in for severe weather, disasters, and other
emergency events. Work requires some
out-of-town training to include overnight stays as needed to stay abreast of
changes in the emergency management field.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Physical ability to lift materials and/or
equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed to set up events
and conduct inventory.
