The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to assist Traffic Engineers in
performing technical engineering work in the conduct and maintenance of traffic
engineering surveys and projects. Work
duties may include assisting with reviewing plats and plans; developing plans;
and performing site visits and field observations. The incumbent will report to
a Traffic Engineer.
High
School Diploma or GED and three years of technical engineering experience in the
area of traffic, public works, and/or transportation.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the
requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must
possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record
as needed to operate a City vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors and outdoors and exposes the employee to
hazards of traffic control construction sites including dangers of fast moving
high speed vehicles, and inclement weather conditions. Work requires regular physical activities
such as walking, crawling, standing, stooping, bending, and operation of a
motor vehicle. Work may require
irregular work schedules to include nights, holidays, or weekends as needed
during special events or emergencies.
