Distinguishing Characteristics:  Positions in this classification are normally filled by advancement from the lower classification of Engineering Technician I, or when filled from the outside, required prior para-professional engineering experience in environmental ground water and storm water sampling.  Incumbents of this classification work within a framework of established procedures and are expected to perform all the duties assigned to the position with only occasional instructions or assistance.  The Engineering Technician II is distinguished from the Engineering Technician III by the latter’s increased complexity of assignments, decision-making responsibility and level of supervision received and exercised.
