Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this classification exists is supervise the work of multiple crews engaged in performing specialized construction and maintenance activities to include cabinetry, painting, roofing, and upholstery work. The primary work responsibilities include: supervising skilled and semi-skilled workers engaged in maintenance trades (cabinetry, painting, roofing, and upholstery); responding to complaints concerning cabinetry, painting, roofing, and upholstery in city-owned/-operated facilities; preparing cost estimates for project materials, labor, time and equipment needed to complete projects; preparing project budgets; coordinating the work of Maintenance Shop crews with other departments’ crews and/or outside contractors; and overseeing the preparation and maintenance of required paperwork. Work is performed with limited supervision and the incumbent is required to exercise independent judgment and technical expertise. Supervision is received from the Building Construction Superintendent.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience supervising skilled and semi-skilled workers in cabinetry, painting, and/or roofing work. Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License and an insurable driving record. Must work overtime, nights, and weekends for emergencies and special events. Must be willing to be on-call on a rotational basis.
