The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to provide technical
supervision and management in the administration of city building, electrical,
plumbing, gas, mechanical, and applicable housing and environmental, codes and
ordinances. Employee responsibility is to assure adherence to zoning
requirements, applicable standards of construction, maintenance, safety, and
environment. Supervision is often exercised over subordinate inspection and
office personnel. The work responsibilities are: supervises two or more
full-time employees; confers with and assists architects, engineers,
contractors, builders, homeowners, tenants and the general public; consults
with inspections staff to review work requirements, status, and problems; and
accepting additional assignments and performing administrative duties and associated
or referred projects and tasks. Employee
acts in the capacity of the Chief Building Official when required. Employee reports to the Chief Building
Official.
