The fundamental reason that this position exists is to develop, promote, and administer a comprehensive urban forestry program to effectively and efficiently maintain the city's urban forest resources. Work functions include managing the city's urban forestry program, managing urban forestry related projects, acting as an urban forestry resource, receiving or handling complaints and requests, and supervising two or more employees. The position is directly supervised by the Director of Planning.
Bachelor's degree in urban forestry, forestry, arboriculture, environmental science or a closely related field and three years of professional forestry experience.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Certification as an arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture within six months of employment which must be maintained while in the classification.
