Nature of Work
The fundamental reason that this job exists is
to coordinate compliance with the procedural requirements of the City zoning
ordinances relating to historic preservation and to ensure that federal and
state historic preservation requirements are met by zoning projects. This
classification works closely with the Architectural Review Board and the
Historic Preservation Commission. The work responsibilities include: processing
applications for historic designation and changes to historic properties and
structures for the Architectural Review Board and Historical Preservation
Commission review; performing technical duties in order to ensure that City
zoning and land use ordinances are appropriately applied; investigating
historic properties complaints from citizens; and communicating with citizens
to answer questions and resolve problems about historic designation and changes
to historic properties/structures. The Land Use Historic Preservation
Coordinator reports to the Land Use Control Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with major
course work in planning, architecture, historic preservation or closely related
field and two years of responsible experience working with historic preservation
ordinances.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
