This is supervisory work over a group of workers
engaged in semi-skilled or unskilled installation and maintenance of city
landscapes for parks, libraries, ball fields, and other city properties and
buildings. Employees in this class have
supervision over a small or moderate size crew which may include equipment
operators, as well as, laborers.
Responsibilities include effectively laying out work and maintaining
work schedules and giving technical instructions. Reports to the District Parks Maintenance Supervisor
or Parks Division Superintendent.
High school
diploma or G.E.D. Three (3) years of
experience installing and maintaining landscapes at the level of an Equipment
Operator with Montgomery Parks and Recreation.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Possession of a
valid Alabama Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within six months.
WORKING
CONDITIONS: Travel over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces. Work in a variety of weather conditions with
exposure to the elements. Move objects
weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Bend or stoop repeatedly over time.
Work with cleaning fluids, chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, paints,
cleaning agents, or similar solutions.
May work some weekends during peak seasons or prior to and after special
city events. May work longer than normal
regular hours to ensure watering schedules are completed.
