The fundamental reason this classification
exists is to supervise the playground work crew in the installation, maintenance,
and repair of playgrounds within the City of Montgomery. The essential functions are: plans
assignments; supervises and directs activities of the playground crew; performs
and/or oversees the inspection, installation, replacement, maintenance, and
repair of playground equipment and other fixtures; and documents activities on
projects and maintains vital records. This classification is distinguished from similar
Labor Foreman II classifications in that this classification is responsible for
overseeing the inspection, installation, replacement, maintenance, and repair
of playground equipment. Performance of
these duties is usually carried out with considerable independence. Errors made during the performance of tasks
can result in safety hazards to the general public and the work crew. Labor Foreman II (Playground) generally
supervises a crew consisting of one equipment operator and two to three
laborers. The Labor Foreman II works
under the general direction and supervision of a District Park Supervisor.
