The
fundamental reason this classification exists is to supervise the work of
multiple crews engaged in skilled installation, maintenance, and repair
activities in mechanical trades’ field. The
primary work responsibilities include: supervising skilled and semi-skilled
workers engaged in the mechanical trades (electrical, HVAC, & plumbing);
responding to complaints concerning electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing issues in
city-owned/-operated facilities; preparing cost estimates for materials, labor,
time, and equipment needed to complete projects; coordinating the work of Mechanical
Trade crews with other departments’ crews and/or outside contractors; and
overseeing the preparation and maintenance of required paperwork. Work is performed with limited supervision
and the incumbent is required to exercise independent judgement and technical
expertise. Supervision is received from the Building Construction
Superintendent.
High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of
experience supervising skilled and semi-skilled workers in the installation of
plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC systems and equipment in new construction,
additions, or large remodeling projects.
NOTE: Qualifying
education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills
and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must
have and maintain a valid Driver’s License and an insurable driving
record. Must work overtime, nights, and weekends
for emergencies and special events. Must be willing to be on-call on a rotational basis.
