The fundamental reason this job exists is to
supervise and assist roofing crews in repairing, maintaining and/or replacing
roofing structures on City of Montgomery buildings. Employees in this class supervise small to
moderate-sized work crews which may include carpenters, Service Maintenance
Workers and/or private contract personnel and also performs roofing maintenance
and construction work to assist crews and expedite work. Responsibilities include planning work,
determining work to be performed, maintaining work schedules, giving technical
instruction to work crews, and inspecting work performed to ensure it is
completed properly. Work is received
through assignment from the supervisor and routine maintenance schedules. General supervision is given by the
Maintenance Shops Supervisor.
Must
have at least three (3) years of work experience in build-up roof construction,
maintenance and repair work including at least one (1) year of supervisory
experience over roofing crews.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Must be willing to work in all types of
inclement weather while performing roof maintenance and repair.
