The fundamental reason this position exists is to manage the petroleum
and special equipment of the Fleet Management Department. The incumbent is required to maintain the
City’s petroleum sites at adequate levels to meet governmental standards for
fuel storage and dispensing units, procure and maintain specialized shop
equipment. The work responsibilities of
the position include overseeing the maintenance and repair of fuel dispensing
systems and island unit computer systems, overseeing the procurement, use and
maintenance of all specialized automotive repair equipment, managing
environmental issues at the city lot, supervising fleet maintenance employees,
performing administrative duties, and performing purchasing and budgeting
functions for the petroleum division.
The Petroleum & Special Equipment Division Superintendent receives
supervision from the Fleet Management Director.
High school diploma or G.E.D and two (2) years of
experience in the repair and maintenance of automated fuel systems and
procurement and repair of specialized shop equipment to include three (3) years
related supervisory experience.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State of Alabama
driver’s license as needed to drive City vehicles and Class B CDL and Hazmat License.
