The fundamental reason this job exists is to perform skilled journeyman level work in the repair of damaged automobile and truck bodies and painting automobiles, trucks and other equipment. An employee of this class is responsible for performing body repair work on a variety of automotive equipment by using specialized body repair tools and equipment. When damage has been repaired, the employee paints body surfaces. Work methods are determined by the employee. In addition to the repair work, the employee is responsible for painting automotive and other equipment. Work is inspected upon completion to ensure repair work meets acceptable standards. This position reports to a Master Auto Mechanic.
Must have a High School diploma or G.E.D and at least two (2) years’ experience as an Automotive Body Repairer and Painter or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be
considered.
Employment is conditioned upon applicants acquiring and maintaining an Alabama Driver's License and providing Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) from the Department of Public Safety as proof of an insurable driving record. Must be willing to respond to Fleet Maintenance after normal working hours, work day or night shift, and be on-call 24 hours during emergency situations or when deemed necessary by the Director or designated representative. Employees must furnish their own basic hand tools.
