The fundamental reason this
position exists is to provide leadership to carpenters and laborers working for
the construction, maintenance, and repair of City properties. Incumbents determine work methods and procedures
and participate in carpentry assignments.
They may supervise the work of journey level, semi-skilled, and
unskilled assistants in the construction, alteration, and maintenance of City
properties. Employees receive
assignments in oral or written form, frequently accompanied by sketches, diagrams,
and blueprints. Work is reviewed by the
Building Construction Supervisor for conformance with instructions and building
specifications and for adherence to codes and regulations. This classification is distinguished from the
position of Carpenter I by the leadership responsibilities associated with the
position as well as the additional experience required or the ability to work
independently on advanced level projects.
High school diploma or GED.
Must have three (3) years of carpentry experience performing rough
and/or finished carpentry work.

Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
